Position: Senior Corporate Counsel, Shopping

Description: We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to support Amazon’s Core Shopping business, which is responsible for the experiences and systems that enable every customer to discover, evaluate, and select products and services across the Amazon Store. Among other responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to partner with teams responsible for building Amazon’s inspirational shopping initiatives, including the Inspire Feed found in Amazon’s mobile shopping app, advise the teams responsible for the Amazon’s homepage, and work on a multitude of other customer-facing initiatives that directly impact customer shopping experience throughout the Amazon Store.

The person serving in this role will be responsible for a broad range of matters, including advising on new feature and product development; advising on complex privacy and regulatory matters; and serving as counsel on key strategic initiatives. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and membership in one state bar
  • 10+ years of attorney experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate great judgment even in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Ability to build rapport with and earn trust of business partners
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
