Description: Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to fill the position of Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. This position is available in the following locations: HQ2 and NYC. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services and more.

Key job responsibilities

This attorney will support our AWS’s public sector sales teams by negotiating, drafting and advising on a wide range of procurement, technology licensing, and compliance matters involving public sector customers worldwide, with special emphasis on public sector resellers, distributors, and systems integrators that sell to U.S. Federal, State, and local Government customers. This candidate will have knowledge of general laws relating to government contracting and experience negotiating and drafting technology licensing agreements with government customers. The successful candidate will be a fast learner who is detail-oriented and customer-obsessed, and will be able to work independently and comfortably while making decisions in ambiguous situations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience as an attorney

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience engaging with U.S. government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, and resellers/distributors
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow in a team environment
  • Ability to demonstrate sound legal and business judgment
  • Ability to work independently and contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines
  • Experience negotiating and drafting technology licensing agreements with public sector resellers, distributors, and systems integrators serving U.S. government agencies, state / local governments, or other public sector customers
  • Knowledge of U.S. government procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations
