Virginia Sikes has been elected managing partner of the Philadelphia office of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoades LLP. A tax attorney in Montgomery, McCracken’s business department, Ms. Sikes is a 17-year veteran of the firm. Her practice focuses on exempt organizations, tax controversies and state and local taxation. In addition, Ms. Sikes frequently lectures on tax-related matters, particularly on issues related to exempt organizations.

Ms. Sikes taught for five years in Temple University Law School’s master’s program in taxation, and for four years in Drexel University’s Master of Science Program in Arts Administration. She serves on the Exempt Organizations Committee of the American Bar Association and on the faculty of The Pennsylvania Bar Institute, which provides continuing legal education through the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Her civic responsibilities include service on the boards of directors of several companies.

Ms. Sikes earned her A.B. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She received a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law, New York, NY, in 1981. Sikes was a Stone Scholar each year at Columbia, and served as editor-in-chief of the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems.
