Vanessa Washington was named executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for Bank of the West, and is a member of the bank’s Executive Management Committee.
Before joining Bank of the West, Washington served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Catellus Development Corporation. Prior to that, she was senior vice president and secretary of California Federal Bank and its parent, Golden State Bancorp Inc. Washington also served at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta, HomeFed Bank in San Diego, and Kennedy & Wasserman in Oakland.
Washington serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Oakland.
Washington earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and her juris doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law—University of California at Berkeley.
