Director of Strategic Diversity Initiatives

Tina L. Harris has been named director of strategic diversity initiatives for Shook, Hardy & Bacon. Harris, who has been with SHB since 1998, was a founding member of the SHB’s diversity committee. Along with the firm’s executive committee and diversity committee, Harris will be ultimately responsible for crafting the firm’s approach to diversity.
An of-counsel in SHB’s National Employment Litigation and Policy Group, Harris has worked for Allstate, Aquila, Farmland, Footlocker, Honeywell, J.C. Penney, UMB Bank and Universal Underwriters Group.
Her practice focuses on employment discrimination, harassment, and civil rights matters. She is a highly sought after speaker and has made numerous presentations across the country, including sexual harassment training programs and CLEs on a variety of topics, including post 9/11 implications on employment and privacy in the workplace.
A graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and the Northern Illinois University School of Law, Harris worked for a Fortune 100 corporation as a human resources professional specializing in benefits administration, recruiting, and HR information systems before attending law school.
Harris was communications chair for the DuPont Women Lawyers’ Network. She was elected to two terms to the Young Lawyer Section Council of the Missouri Bar, and was recently appointed to the Kansas City Public Library Board of Trustees. Harris is also an active member of the American Bar Association, the National Employment Law Council and served as an officer of the Jackson County Bar Association.
