Starbucks Coffee Company appointed Paula E. Boggs as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Ms. Boggs will lead the law and corporate affairs department, manage relationships with all law firms used by the company, and oversee the company’s legal matters, including real estate, employment, litigation, corporate and securities, international, intellectual property, and commercial.
She joins Starbucks from Dell, a provider of computer systems and services for building information-technology and Internet infrastructures. She had served as vice-president, legal for products, operations and information technology systems since 1997.
Prior to joining Dell, Ms. Boggs was a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis in Seattle.
From 1988-1994, she served as assistant United States attorney in the western district of Washington State.
She is a former United States Army officer and has worked as a staff attorney for the government.
Ms. Boggs received a B.A. in international studies from The Johns Hopkins University in 1981 and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law.
