This January marks one year since the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. President Obama came to the office under a mantra of “Hope” and “Change,” and I have been inspired by the fact that this administration had no diffi culty recruiting excellent diverse legal talent to serve our nation. Over the years, many of these top lawyers have been active members of our MCCA network. In fact, George Madison was one of a handful of general counsel to offer early support of the MCCA mission and serve on our Board of Directors. We wish all of the president’s appointees the very best as they contribute their talents in service to our nation.
In addition to spotlighting the many diverse lawyers appointed to top spots at key departments and agencies within the administration, MCCA also looks to the future. Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the outstanding lawyers who comprise this year’s class of the NAPABA best lawyers under the age of 40. I am sure that within their ranks we’ll find future attorneys general, Cabinet-level general counsel, and contenders for the office of President of the United States.
As the economy continues to improve, the number of opportunities for members of our network should become more plentiful. So now is the perfect time to take stock of your own career. You will not want to miss the debut of a new column on professional development, penned by MCCA’s own Lori Garrett, Esquire, Managing Director of the Southeast Region.
All of us at MCCA wish you every success in this New Year! DB
