This year’s “Best of the Best” edition celebrates those MCCA members and allies who are leading the way.
Our 2010 Employer of Choice and Sager Award winners’ steadfast commitment to diversity has yielded laudable results and provided exemplary practices for others to emulate. In addition, this issue’s “Association Focus” and “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” articles recognize some of the lawyers behind the movement toward equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans. We also continue the “Perseverance in Profile” column which spotlights top attorneys who have overcome significant physical or cognitive disabilities in order to continue to serve their clients well. Their stories are inspiring and remind us that one life-changing accident could leave any one of us with a disability. We are fortunate to have these role models to share their pathway to recovery.
In these toughest of economic times, we also found lots of hardworking attorneys who embody what it takes to grow a firm’s client base, and several of these “rainmakers” are featured in this issue. In addition, we examine the findings from an insightful new report from the Hispanic National Bar Association on the challenges and opportunities faced by Latinas who are public interest lawyers.
The people highlighted in this edition represent the best of those who contribute to the nation’s ongoing quest toward full and equal participation for all Americans. And as our readers, your interest and commitment is equally vital to that journey. MCCA remains committed to providing you with the support, information, and encouragement you need to advance your commitment to results. As the year draws to a close, I join with the MCCA Board of Directors and staff to wish you a happy holiday season and thank you for your ongoing support of this association! DB
With appreciation,
