Happy New Year!
Happy New Year and welcome to the inaugural issue of the newly redesigned Diversity & the Bar® magazine! The 2007 year promises to be a very special year for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA®) as it marks 10 years of service to the legal community, and so it seemed only fitting for this publication to have a facelift for this special year. We hope that you like the new look and our decision to present the magazine with a more black-and-white, retro design!
This first issue celebrates the achievements of minority lawyers which seems especially fitting for February which is Black History Month. You won’t want to miss the articles that spotlight top African American lawyers and outstanding young Asian American practitioners. Diversity & the Bar also congratulates the lawyers of color who were named to law firm partnerships during 2006 and through their achievements continue to break barriers and set new standards of excellence.
Aside from a new look and several great features, we also unveil two new columns: Work InBalance will address the challenges lawyers face in juggling busy professional and personal lives seeking to avoid imbalance and remain “inbalance,” and Vocation/Avocation seeks to contrast the professional passions lawyers pursue by day with the hobbies and interests about which they are passionate outside of the workplace.
We hope that you enjoy this special issue of Diversity & the Bar and we thank you again for your readership and your support! DB
