- Thomas L. Sager
- Employer of Choice
Each year, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA®) recognizes law departments and firms for the notable job they have done working to promote diversity both in their law departments and firms as well as in the profession as a whole. In 2006, 19 organizations were honored for their commitment to inclusion at a series of diversity award dinners that MCCA hosted in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South/Southwest, Northeast, and Western regions. Five regional offices of law firms received the coveted Thomas L. Sager Award. Named in honor of DuPont Company Vice Presi dent and Assistant General Counsel Thomas L. Sager, the award recognizes the regional offices of law firms that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improve the hiring, retention, and pro motion of diverse attorneys.
Fourteen corporate law departments were recognized with the Employer of Choice Award, which spotlights general counsel and the members of their law department for their commitment to diversity and success in building and maintaining an inclusive corporate law department.
The 2006 honorees share a strong commitment to diversity that starts at the very top of the organization and reaches each and every employee. With initiatives such as mentoring programs, affinity groups, bottom-up communication and feedback, and specific goals tied to promotion and other incentives, they have cre ated workplaces of inclusion.
