Cover Story: Wal-Mart’s Watershed Moment
As the nation’s biggest retailer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is well known for maximizing efficiency in the supply chain and demanding the lowest prices for its customers. What is less well known is that Wal-Mart is just as demanding when it comes to diversity in the legal profession. Having overhauled both its in-house legal department as well as its top 100 outside law firms, Wal-Mart is working to ensure that the lawyers who represent the company are as diverse as America. At the same time, it is changing the face of the profession.
