Walmart named L. Mecole (Cole) Brown as the company’s Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. Ms. Brown will oversee the company´s coordination of diversity strategy for its U.S. business. Ms. Brown, who joined Walmart’s legal team in 2002, has held senior positions at Walmart and Sam´s Club, in addition to Walmart’s Office of Diversity. She will be responsible for accelerating progress in diversity efforts, with an emphasis on inclusion, talent, development, and associate opportunity. Since 2008, Ms. Brown has led the company’s Employment Practices Initiatives, including responsibility for wage and hour, employment compliance, and policy issues. She earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees from Southern Methodist University.
