MCCA Board Chair Announces Search for Executive Director
Washington, DC − Mary E. Snapp, Board Chair of the The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), announced that MCCA has begun a formal search to replace MCCA’s Executive Director, Veta T. Richardson, who will step down in June. Richardson has accepted the position as the new President and CEO of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). Richardson will succeed Frederick J. Krebs, who is retiring from ACC after 20 years.
“With Veta’s leadership and personal commitment over the last 10 years, MCCA’s membership of corporate counsel has greatly expanded, the organization’s research and educational services to the legal community have been broadened, and its programs have helped to increase inclusion and diversity in the profession,” said Snapp, who is Corporate VP and Deputy General Counsel of Microsoft Corporation. “We wish her every success in her new position with ACC.”
Other long-time Board members also commented on Ms. Richardson’s tenure at MCCA. MCCA’s Immediate Past Board Chair, Don H. Liu, Senior VP and General Counsel & Secretary of Xerox Corporation, said, “During the last decade, we have seen ups and downs in the economy and drastic changes in the legal market, but Veta has guided MCCA through these challenges and kept the organization dedicated to make diversity pervasive and celebrated throughout the entire legal industry. She will bring this same dedication and focus to ACC.”
Thomas L. Sager, Senior VP & General Counsel, DuPont Company, and long-time MCCA Board member added, “I have been involved with MCCA since its formative days and under Veta’s guidance, I believe it has become the nation’s foremost legal diversity organization. Its research and educational programs and, in particular, the scholarship program she helped develop for outstanding diverse law students in need, have had far-reaching impact on diversity in our profession. With Veta’s untiring efforts, MCCA’s work has touched a lot of lives and made an impact on the legal profession.”
Ms. Snapp said that MCCA is in the process of selecting a search firm. To review a job description and the qualifications required for the Executive Director position, go to Latest News on www.mcca.com.
