MCCA Appoints Two Vice Presidents
Washington, DC − The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), announced the promotion of two members of its staff as officers of the association. Jennifer Chen and Lori Lynch Garrett were unanimously elected Vice Presidents by MCCA’s Board of Directors. Both promotions are effective immediately.
Jennifer Chen is now Vice President, External Relations. Ms. Chen has been a member of the MCCA staff since 2003 when she was hired as Program Development Manager, and her most recent position was as Director of Special Events. She has worked as liaison with key members of the MCCA network, served as an association spokesperson, conducted fund raising, and contributed to the management of MCCA finances as Assistant Treasurer. As Vice President, External Relations, Ms. Chen will take the lead in cultivating and managing MCCA’s relationships with strategic partner bar associations, oversee sponsorship marketing, and develop and manage MCCA events.
Lori Lynch Garrett was also promoted to Vice President and will retain her current title as Managing Director of MCCA’s Southeast regional office. Ms. Garrett joined MCCA in 2009 and has successfully led a number of new-service launches and expansions, including the MCCA Job Bank, revising the Hot Job strategy, relaunching and marketing the KAN-Do! mentoring program, and developing the Career Center at mcca.com. Ms. Garrett is also responsible for management of MCCA’s scholarship program through which more than 100 students have received over $1.5 million in financial assistance. Her responsibilities will be expanded through work on MCCA’s Workplace 2020 initiatives, which distinguish MCCA as a knowledge leader in generational diversity.
“Both Jen and Lori have made significant contributions to MCCA,” commented Executive Director Veta R. Richardson. “The Board’s unanimous vote confirmed that they are pivotal members of our staff and will continue to play a significant role as MCCA moves forward.”
