DHL Named Employer of Choice by Minority Corporate Counsel Association
Washington, D.C. – The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has named the Legal Department of DHL its 2012 Employer of Choice Award winner for the South/Southwest Region. DHL was selected from law department applicants of corporations across the Southern/Southwest United States for demonstrating a commitment to diversity and creating and maintaining an inclusive workplace.
The DHL Legal Department has implemented various diversity initiatives, including manager evaluations of recruitment and promotion of diverse staff. As a result, 50 percent of the department’s attorneys are minorities and 50 percent are women. The company also solicits the services of minority- and women-owned law firms.
“DHL’s status as a global leader gives it a unique opportunity to champion diversity,” said Joseph K. West, MCCA’s President and CEO. “DHL has seized that opportunity and set a standard for other companies to follow – making it an industry leader and an Employer of Choice.”
“As a company with an extensive presence internationally, DHL is committed to maintaining a workplace that reflects our internal values and our worldwide customer base, and we are honored to be recognized for our longstanding practice of diversity by the MCCA,” said Joshua Frank, General Counsel, DHL Americas.
DHL and four other regional winners will be honored at MCCA’s Diversity Honors Gala at the Lincoln Center in New York City on September 11. The evening will begin with a reception followed by the awards program in the Starr Theater and a reception in Alice Tully Hall. MCCA will also recognize Diversity Innovators, corporate legal departments, and law firms or legal associations that implement outstanding diversity programs. During this reception, one individual will be honored with MCCA’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hosting the gala will be Sunny Hostin, attorney and multi-platform journalist as well as CNN’s legal analyst and contributor for In Session on TruTV. Hostin is also an anchor on World News Now and America This Morning.
