McGuireWoods partner Joanne Katsantonis — the firm’s deputy managing partner for industry teams — is a global rainmaker in the energy industry who serves as lead counsel to companies in multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions. Joanne is a driving force who established the firm as a leader in emerging growth areas including public utility and gas company mergers and utility-scale solar and retail energy transactions. Focusing her practice in the areas of M&A, energy transactions and financing, Joanne devotes a significant portion of her practice to advising purchasers and sellers of business organizations. She is a key strategic adviser to energy companies of all kinds, from public utilities and independent power producers to financial investors, such as infrastructure funds. Before her appointment as McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for industry teams, Joanne chaired the firm’s energy industry team and served on the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Partners. She has practiced in McGuireWoods’ Chicago and Brussels offices, and now is based in Richmond, Virginia.
