Jennifer SmithJennifer Smith has made partner in the Miami office of Holland & Knight. Smith’s practice focuses on employment and commercial litigation. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, she served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Joseph W. Hatchett, former circuit judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Smith is founding chair of the Washington Bar Association,Young Lawyers Division; association general counsel of the National Bar Association; former officer/board member of the Washington Bar Association; former treasurer of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia,Young Lawyers Section; former district 7 representative for the American Bar Association,Young Lawyers Division; a member of the National Bar Association, and a member of the American Bar Association, Litigation Section, among others.

In November 1995, Smith was recognized in Ebony magazine as a “Leader of Tomorrow.” She volunteered for three months in Johannesburg, South Africa, working with the Legal Resources Centre to provide free legal services to impoverished South Africans in the areas of unfair labor practices, housing development and land ownership, abuse of power by public officials, and creditor abuse.

Smith earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in business in 1989 from Hampton University and her J.D. in 1992 from the University of Miami.
