2006 Counsel of the Year
The Association of Media and Entertainment Counsel (AMEC) named Bob Gerrard, executive vice president and general counsel of Scripps Networks, as the 2006 Counsel of the Year.
Gerrard’s career began in 1982 when he joined HBO from Hughes Hubbard & Reed. He later joined Sega Channel. Gerrard joined Scripps Networks as general counsel in 1997.
In 2005, MCCA® named Scripps Networks as its Northeast Employer of Choice. Gerrard, a Harvard college and law school graduate, has been inducted into the National Association of Multi-ethnicity in Communication Hall of Fame and received its Stanley B. Thomas, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award. Gerrard also earned the ABA’s Pioneers of the Profession Award; the Andrew J. Heiskell Award from Time Warner; the Harlem YMCA Black Achievers’ Award; and the Stakeholder Award from the Charting Your Own Course career conference. He recently was named as one of the Top 100 Blacks in Corporate America by Black Professionals magazine.
