Description: Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms, seeks to hire a mid-level associate to join our Investment Management practice group in the Boston office. The ideal candidate will have experience in law firms, the SEC, and/or industry experience in private funds, with an emphasis on hedge funds.

The position involves counseling top tier Hedge Fund and Private Equity firms on a variety of matters including fund formation, management company agreements, regulatory issues and transactional matters. We are looking for someone with a very strong academic background who shares our passion for excellence and getting the right result.

Morgan Lewis’s Investment Management Practice provides a full range of legal services to clients in the financial services industry in the United States and abroad. Our management company clients include managers of public mutual funds, institutional asset managers, managers of hedge funds and other private investment equity funds, and private wealth and family offices. Our fund clients include virtually every type of commingled investment vehicle, both U.S. and non-U.S., from registered mutual funds, closed-end investment companies, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and variable insurance products to hedge funds, private equity and venture capital funds, and commodity pools.

Our interdisciplinary approach to counseling clients combines the knowledge of lawyers familiar with the federal and state securities laws, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code, commodities regulation, federal and state banking and insurance laws, and foreign securities laws. Many of our attorneys have worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), investment management firms, banks, broker-dealers, and insurance companies.

The ideal candidate will meet the key criteria listed above, have prior experience advising Private Funds and their managers, and be interested in working with a broad range of clients. Excellent academic credentials, strong communication, analytical, writing and interpersonal skills are required. Massachusetts bar membership is preferred.
