Position: Deputy General Counsel

Description: CaaStle is seeking a versatile Deputy General Counsel to join its international team. You will report to, be mentored and developed by our SVP, General Counsel (a member of the CaaStle Management Team). You must be intellectually curious, a stellar communicator, and a collaborative problem-solver.

You have: a passion for working in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment, understand the interplay between legal, policy, strategy, and technology.  You have excellent non-binary business judgment and are an active listener. You will assess legal risk by providing practical advice and managing changing priorities and multiple projects.  In this individual contributor role, you will be ably supported by your General Counsel, a Corporate Counsel and myriad CaaStle colleagues with whom you will frequently collaborate.

What You’ll Do:

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements (i.e. procurement, sales, partnership e-commerce, technology, licensing, publishing, advertising, and marketing)
  • Identify opportunities and create standard work within the Legal function and cross-functionally
  • Work cross-functionally on corporate policies, processes, training, discovering, developing, and implementing creative, practical solutions for CaaStle’s current and scalable future states
  • Lead as well as follow; be coachable, engaging patiently and humbly with colleagues as they will you

Pay Range:

$230,000-$250,000. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Qualifications:

We’d Love for you to Have:

  • JD from a law school and active New York bar membership
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience with complex commercial matters, of which at least two years must be as in-house counsel in a startup, technology and/or other dynamic environment
  • Privacy, consumer law and regulatory experience, information security, and intellectual property experience a plus
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and a Best Practices mindset to develop tools for highly responsive and efficient utilization of company resources
  • Resilience under pressure and ability to navigate ambiguity while assuming good intent and teammate capability
  • Enthusiasm for the “mission,” supporting our colleagues, and a “no job too great or small” attitude
